No, I'm not talking about the definition of the Law of Attraction the New Thought thinkers have popularized. What I'm talking about here is basic marketing. The key to being an effective Connector is to give people what they are looking for. In order to do that, a good Connector seeks, asks, understands and then 'connects'
SEEKING
I am certainly not shy, and that has definitely been the secret to becoming an exceptional Connector. By being able to initiate conversations with practically anybody, I have made friendships and alliances that many consider remarkable. Of course, becoming involved in numerous social activities and gatherings makes it all the more probable.
GIVING THEM WHAT THEY WANT
The act of 'engagement' requires giving people
what they ultimately seek...a confirmation of self worth and
acceptance. By genuinely having an interest in what others do, gaining
trust has come easy for me. From there, anything is possible.
ASKING
What truly fascinates me is what people do, why they do it and how I might be able to help or how they might be able to help others. The answers to those questions helps me to build an inventory of 'resources' that will become very useful either to myself or to others.
UNDERSTANDING
I have had the great fortune of experiencing life from many perspectives. Having these experiences makes it possible to easily comprehend issues and challenges that others are having. The deeper my understanding, the more trust I receive.
MAKING CONNECTIONS
As I gain more and more knowledge in the lives of the people in my network,
it becomes easier to identify the needs and the opportunities that
exist throughout my entire network. Where this becomes valuable to me as a
Connector is when I can provide solutions from my network to help
others. By consistantly making effective connections, I become a valuable resource for my friends....and it keeps on growing.
